Wayne Nathan Nance committed a string of brutal murders around Missoula, Montana from 1974 to 1986.  It wouldn't be known, however, until an attempted crime in 1986 went wrong for Nance, leading to the discovery of evidence that helped solve a decade of murders.

This episode, we experienced our first real difficulty finding ingredients for cocktails, but we found a suitable backup drink in the Montana Payback.  The owner of Philadelphia's Hop Sing Laundromat (bar) named his creation for the Battle of Greasy Grass, aka Battle of the Little Bighorn, aka Custer's Last Stand.  The name "Montana Payback" just happened to fit perfectly with the crime for this episode.

Montana Payback

  • 1 fresh, whole Thai chile
  • 1 strawberry, hulled
  • 1.5 oz Laird's apple brandy
  • 0.75 oz El Dorado 6-year White Rum
  • 0.75 oz Velvet Falernum
  • 0.5 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz heavy cream

Muddle the chile and strawberry.  Add brandy, rum, falernum and lime juice with ice and shake until chilled.  Double-strain into glass.  Rinse shaker, and add cream.  Shake until cream turns to foam and pour over top of drink.
