In 1885, Austin, Texas experienced a series of assaults and axe murders that brought the city into the national spotlight, for all the wrong reasons. A killer began targeting black servants in the heart of the city. Seven women and one man would end up dead by year’s end. Though authorities tried many suspects for the murders, the case remains a mystery today.
